Obituary of Lois Pitchford
Lois W. Pitchford, age 82, of Waverly died Sunday afternoon (September 23, 2018) at her residence.
She was born August 21, 1936 near Waverly, Il. daughter of the late Albert P. and Mary Barbara Newman Hermes.
She married Raymond Pitchford on October 27, 1956 in Franklin, Il. and he survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Jo Anne Lammert (James) of St. Louis, Mo., Janet Miller of Rockaway Beach, Mo., Diane Decker (Jeff) and Karen Wallbaum (Bill) all of Franklin, Il.; a son, Richard Pitchford (Jeana) of Waverly, Il.; seventeen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a niece and a nephew, Patricia Moore of Converse, Texas and Jim Crawford of Los Angeles, Ca. who were raised in the home; one sister, Jean Retherford of Orlando, Fl.; and two brothers, Don Hermes (Shirley) and Albert “Bud” Hermes all of Waverly, Il.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Kevin Miller; a sister, Cecelia Crawford; a niece, Mary Crawford; and nephews, Mike Crawford and Phil Crawford
Lois worked as a bookkeeper for Jacksonville Journal Courier as well as Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a cook at Franklin School for many years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Franklin, Il. where she was very active. She was a 4-H leader for many years. She was also a member of the FASA organization.
Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday (September 29, 2018) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Franklin, Il. Inurnment will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Waverly, Il. where prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday.
